Kira's Dia de Los Muertos Oferendas

I received a comment from Miss Kelley the other day, telling me that she had created an ancestor altar in Speirling. I went to see it and was so moved by its beauty as you can tell that it is love-filled...Even here in SL, we change...we discover new things about who we are and what we want. Sometimes, to move forward, we have to have a measure of closure on our past and on those that we have lost in our lives as often that pain alone can keep us from healing and continuing on a path to evolve and change into the person we are meant to become.
I think she did a beautiful job...don't you?

Samhain Ceremony and Halloween Musings

I was (gasp!) not in a partying mood tonight, not even for Halloween, one of my favorite days of the year. I went the opposite direction...one of introspection when the veil is thinnest between us and the other planes. So when I received the invitation to the Duchess of Carntaigh's private Samhain ceremony, I was more than happy to attend. I am glad I did, as it was truly lovely and moving and I hope brought peace to many present who were missing their loved ones...We were then ask to meditate and ground ourselves, and their was a visual representation there that had been created by Jess Patton. I tried it, breathing deeply, and started feeling floaty and seeing bright flashes of white light. Afterwards, Mr Drinkwater said a beautiful poem ("The Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver) and we ended it with a celebration, dancing and laughing with one another. Our ancestors are always with us, guiding and protecting us...That's what I have believed for a long, long time...
Afterwards, I joined Mr Hax and caught up on life in Caledon...
As we sat on the huge pumpkin on his rooftop...
Seeing one of these infernal turkeys on fire, now that truly made me smile! Thanksgiving IS coming soon...

Big News in Steelhead

Went to the Steelhead town meeting tonight and two big things happened. First, the citizens decided upon the official flag...And the 3D map of the new Harborside project to the North was unveiled. If you're interested in land there, you can contact TotalLunar Eclipse. I think it is going to be beautiful and couldn't resist putting in for a spot myself...

Calaveras Romp through the Haunted Sims

Mr Goodliffe and I decided to visit as many of the haunted sims as possible that Miss Orr has been regaling us about. We put on our calaveras skins and had a great time! Here's Mr Goodliffe bobbing for apples. I hope he gets a poisoned one! That made me fall out when I tried it at Sleepy Hollow...Truly fun...Here I am on my innertube on the bloodslide at Killtower...
Just hanging around at the haunted factory...
I now realize that I dislike mazes...
We ended our 8 sim tour with a sedate ride on Octoberville's train...until we jumped the track. Mr Goodliffe, your train conductor's license has been revoked!

Dark Victorians Dia de Los Muertos Exhibit

I love being an active member of the Dark Victorians group. It suits me well, given my penchant for wearing either black or red. Tonight was the opening of the Dia de Los Muertos exhibit at the Tanglewood Bunneh Hutch. You'll find Muertos-inspired pieces created by Caledonians, such as my "poster" below......As well as artwork and an oferenda for artists Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo...You'll also find a box of amusing calavera (skeleton) skins by Miss StormChat Noir, similar to those in traditional paintings such as those by José Guadalupe Posada--whose work you will also be able to see examples of. Here I am dressed up as a calavera along with Doc Mason. For a while, the two of us sipped tequila and margaritas while exchanging bad skeleton puns and jokes (see below)...
Miss Laval & Doc Mason's Top 5 Calavera Bad Jokes:
1. "Drink your milk!"
2. "Well, at least they didn't 'rib' me about it..."
3. "Dr. Mason, have you lost weight?"
4. "...kneebone connected to the legbone..."
5. "I don't mind if you smoke. It's not like it's bad for my health..."

Diatastic Metalhead Mosh Pit

Dia threw an impromptu party with friends coming over and dancing on her rooftop. Here's a picture from early on as we well...nevermind upon threats...LordAlbert made the mistake of going afk...PROCK!

Steelhead's Halloween Party!

Went to Steelhead's Halloween party last night as a tiny grim reaper and partied with Lord Albert Heron. Tiny jokes abounded, although why you would want to tease a bloody-fanged ferret with an ankle-level scythe is beyond me...Sheriff Ortega as himself and Miss Hilra, as well, the Sheriff. Her Grace Loch Avie was a little traumatized by Miss Krystyne Qinan's penguin, which won the ladies costume grand prize...
I personally loved Miss Picnic's zombiewolf. There was discussion of brain sushi at one point. O'Toole won runner-up for the men with his Frankenstein's monster costume...
Mr Eclipse as one of my favorite "Inuyasha" characters, Sesshomaru, which his hair has always made me think of anyway...
And Lord and Lady Primbroke, who won Men's Grand Prize and Ladies Runner-up respectively for their costumes...

A Look at Penzance!

Was in Mayfair and walked down the street from my shop to my neighbor Miss Paravane's Chaiwallah Tea & Curry for her latest recipe. I found this lovely (and free!) dress that she created!I thought I'd look at our latest sim, Penzance, and here is a view of Mayfair (there's my shop!)...
It's so nice to see all of the buildings going up! Theatres and shops...It'll be fantastic!
I couldn't stop saying "Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!"

You Know You've Been in Caledon for A While When... (Pt. 1)

Smoke outside your shop window just means that a neighbor's steam-powered vehicle has had a "problem". At least aliens or zombies aren't attacking...today...The Etheric Travel Cabinet appears out of the aether. Dr. Sputnik & Miss Lightfoot pop out and then soon walk back in, and it disappears. You do not think twice about it...
You are able to negotiate sitting in very very large dresses...
And even wedding receptions can turn into Caledon shirtless and skirt o'clock at the bride's request!

Never a Dull Steelhead Moment

As the new editor of the Steelhead Anvil-Telegraph, I had a lot of notecards and meeting minutes to sift through to familiarize myself with everything. I got comfortable in the Gardens across the street as I went about my work...A red bloom in the Bay? No. I wish it was algae. That's lava. As in red hot, I do not want to fall into that, lava, yet the marine life was still leaping merrily within it. Oh my. Never a dull moment...

Congrats to the New Mr & Mrs Scaggs!

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Mordecai Scaggs! They are both very sweet and I am so happy for both of them! Mrs. Scaggs had admired one of my dresses and I delivered it to her for her trousseau, as well as an ensemble for Mr Scaggs as presents. They were so tickled they took this photo for me before they went off to their ceremony. What a lovely picture!Ladies Edwina and Dia and I got dressed up to go to the reception at Castle Cymru...
Where the happy couple danced and partied with all of their friends late into the evening...
What a wonderful event it was and congrats to you both once more as you begin this new phase of your Second Life together!

Steelhead Town Meeting

"My wife is...a dog," was all that Mr Eclipse could say upon seeing Ms Tensai Hilra, Steelhead's manager, reclined upon newspaper at the front during the town meeting. There are some interesting events coming up there. I'll keep you all posted...

Babbage Spooky Cemetery

I was roaming around in Babbage and had a lovely conversation with Miss Maertens. I saw Mr. Skusting Dagger and chatted with him as well for a while. He showed me the rather haunted cemetery in Babbage Lovelace Park, complete with fog, crypt and ghosts. I am sorry that I missed the Halloween parade over the weekend!I love this time of year!

En Garde!

Sunday night, I was explaining to Friar Newbe that the SPD weapons system works on just about anything (one of the pirates said "even skillets!"), so when he showed me his lovely sword, I gave him a copy and it was on! It's not a bad system, and at this point I've tried almost all of them except Samurai Island's. If you're not doing weapons damage, the punching can too. We had a great time at the Newbe SteamWorks skyplatform slashing away!Too bad I had to take him down...

Lovely Lazy Caledon Sunday

I love Sundays in SL. The earlier part of it when I'm present, I'm usually more quiet and do things such as joining Dia and the Cap'n in Port Caledon for tea...But when I come back later, I'm not so sedate! This week's GenX I hosted for Dia as she rocked Coughton Court and even had a WhoopAss can dispenser. Miss Tammas showed up in her pirate gear and got us inspired be one (or a pirate wench) ourselves!

Tinies on the Loose

I don't get a chance to be a tiny as often as I used to, with my being so busy due to the shops lately. The other day I roped LordAlbert Heron, who is famously a tiny, into a race around Regency. We didn't get very far however, as Lady Edwina got ahold of us first. I laughed as she stamped her foot with crossed arms and admonished us. Something about "tinies on the loose...decorum..." I didn't quite hear the rest. Ferrets aren't known for their long attention spans.

(Pssst! LordA...I'm still game if you are!!!!)

Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach Reception

One of the biggest events of the day was the official opening reception of the Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach in Kitti...The Baron Wulfenbach before his maps...
Miss Tombola as the Madgirl herself...
Lord "Emperor Krosp I" Primbroke, who acted as DJ along with the Duchess of Carntaigh...
A fine selection of Bavarian treats, some made by Lady Primbroke!
The Consulate is definitely worth a visit and you may receive a special gift while there! I had a wonderful time.
