1897 Historic Church Build in Harborside

I originally needed the other two parcels in Harborside for extra prims, but I really wanted to create something on them like the Post Office that everyone could use and enjoy. I said I wanted to do good things for Steelhead and I meant it. As you cross the bridge to the other side of Harborside, I built a little building based upon the RL historic 1897 Antelope Community Church in Antelope, OR...
With the exception of the shingles and foundation stones, I created all of the textures for this from scratch. This one is called the Harborside Museum, as I hope to have small exhibits about the Pacific Northwest and historic preservation there in the future. I also hope that it'll be used for another special purpose as well--bringing folks together in a positive way. I love the concept of "purpose to be announced." In general though, here are some interesting historic preservation links, both U.S. national and Pacific Northwest. Enjoy:

New Releases at E.Laval: "Ada" Steampunk/Victorian Ensembles

I thought I would create some new pieces for Fall. I've always enjoyed wearing uneven hemmed dresses with little breeches underneath. Good for adventure, yet still feminine at the same time. In that spirit, I am releasing "Ada", a steampunk-y Victorian outfit named after Lady Ada Lovelace, the first "computer" programmer herself! It comes with shirt with flexi lace cuffs, cropped vest, collared jacket with sculpted cuffs, sculpted hat, pants, belt, uneven hemmed skirt, brooch, gloves and knee-high stockings. You may find these on the aethernet or at my store in Caledon Regency. The Ada Black is also available at the Dark Victorian Emporium in Caledon Tanglewood...

Dark Victorian Emporium Opens

Today was the opening of the Dark Victorian Emporium in Tanglewood--a brand-new one-stop shop featuring clothing by designers such as myself, skins, accessories, home furnishings, and even horses with a dark bent. We celebrated with a dance on the roof of Dame Lapin's gorgeous build as Duckthulhu Dagger spun the tunes.

It will also be the only place where you can find goods for sale by artist AM Radio in the near future. Members of the Dark Victoria group may sell their wares there and if you are interested in doing so, please contact Mr. Posemaster Darkstone...

A Postcard from Darkmere

Dear Readers,

For some reason, I am missing photographs from my adventures this week, so I shall start anew with those from a recent trip to Darkmere. It had recently been part of a military engagement, but its Duke, Lord Lucifer Baphomet was not present, nor any of his minions or residents. He had once given an invitation to all Caledonians quite a while ago to come visit his fair lands (especially now that serf burnings were not taking place) on our forum. I will admit that I found it rather warm there..."Deep One" Puck had a bit of an unfortunate accident while investigating the skulls on a stick...
Having a wonderful time! Wish you were here!

Dark Victorian Show

Today was the big Dark Victorian "Dark City" show, featuring Victorian designs of a more gothic feel...I was nervous to be on the runway, but here I am in my new "Godey Nightfall". I have also made the Lola Midnight available as a RFL item, so if you see it in a vendor, its purchase proceed goes towards RFL...
Lady Patty and Puck enjoy the show...
Bastchild & Lapointe (designs below) were the featured designers, but there were also great pieces from Lapin Paris, Fuschia Begonia, Terry Lightfoot and yours truly!
Afterwards, we danced in Dame Lapin's lovely build as Dia spun goth tunes. Yes, I'm the one in the mourning veil...

Solarya Cogs and Elder Gods Attack!

Was in Solarya...look at the wonderful steam and gear and cog workings beneath the central park! Oooooo...Earlier, Mr Enoch wanted to show me some monsters he had created for the October Country sim's Lovecraftian-style town. Given my past experiences testing his inventions, you'd think I'd be leery by now. But noooo...I was promptly eaten by Dagon...
And attacked on a bridge by Cthulhu!!!

Winterfell Absinthe and a Block Party

I visited Winterfell Absinthe today. Its deliciously gothic ambiance warmed this particular dark Victorian's heart. I shall be back again in the future...I also attended the DeCosta-Pinion Block Party in Steelhead...
With its clown/jester theme, we all had a great time dancing!
Lots of juggling and games and it was a lot of fun! Thanks to the two couples for throwing it!
Afterwards, I visited the Bloodwing Foundation. I know that the view from this balcony will change one day, but for now, I was looking at the sunset over the water...

A Look at Penzance!

Was in Mayfair and walked down the street from my shop to my neighbor Miss Paravane's Chaiwallah Tea & Curry for her latest recipe. I found this lovely (and free!) dress that she created!I thought I'd look at our latest sim, Penzance, and here is a view of Mayfair (there's my shop!)...
It's so nice to see all of the buildings going up! Theatres and shops...It'll be fantastic!
I couldn't stop saying "Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!"

Gorey House in Babbage

"Come join me in Babbage. You must see this!" was the invite from Mr. Goodliffe. I tp'd over and found myself standing in a house--an Edward Gorey house! I have always loved his work...a little twisted and spooky... The house's creator pays tribute to the artist, famous for his B&W pen and ink illustrations, by making you feel as if you have stepped into one of his pieces...It even has bats and his lovely wispy ghosts on the roof! Oh! The creature from The Doubtful Guest, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary of publication this year!
It was interesting seeing everything suspended in the air as Babbage itself undergoes a bit of preparation for a new look and new sim...

Regency Court of Whimsy Ball...

We all looked ever so fancy and fanciful at the Regency Court of Whimsy Ball held at Mr Sands' later! What does one wear to such a thing? Big, big dresses and even bigger hair! I decided to go the "Versailles" route myself...Here I am dancing with Mr Sands, who looked handsome as the Jack of Hearts...
Lady Dia at the left looking lovely with her dress and matching wig, but oh! The Marquise! I loved her birdcage wig and purple, blue and red outfit! The lag was catching up with me, crashing me three times, so I wish I got her when she still had on the dress...
...speaking of dress...the Duchess Kintyre's was truly one of a fantastic circumference! Sir Zen? Where are you in there?
Wonderful time! Thank you all so much for coming!

Victorian Ghosts & Haunts Group

Given that the Victorian period was a good one for ghosts and horror tales, I thought that perhaps Caledon was lacking a bit of "darker" side...After all, where are the unseen things and shadows and things that go bump in the night? On a lark for the absolute pure fun of it, I thought I'd create a "Victorian Ghosts & Haunts" group...

If you are interested in becoming a ghost o' Caledon (or even another of the 19th c. sims) as a residual or active haunting (haunting, mind you--not a pain in the neck), or would like to have your place haunted, do contact me!

Steelhead & Scarecrows

Ran the Steelhead Horse Race again...with a similar result. I was in the lead cutting the corner near the bay when Flashy froze. Everything else around including me could move, but not him! Got him together again only to freeze on the opposite corner of the pier. My frustrated shout could probably be heard in the next sim. One more time right at the finish line after watching folks pass me again again and again was too much. O'Toole even found his racing ostritch Petunia high in the air and others froze too, but it was still a fun race and a good course! Congrats to His Grace Otenth Padenborn and Lady Dia.

Oh! And I won 2nd place in the Steelhead scarecrow contest! Hooray! If you'd like one, you may find it for sale at either of my shop locations!Speaking of crows, Mr. Goodliffe has decided to open "Puck's Corvus Sanctuary" as a haven for ravens, crows, blackbirds, vultures and bats to fly free until November. I suppose I shall be making a sign tomorrow...
And of course my evening ending dancing with Radio Riel at the Rock Factory!

Interesting Dark Victorian Build...

Meant to post this photo the other day...

Mr. Goodliffe, you are a dark Victorian after my own heart. I thought I had the wrong house at first as I rode Flashy through Caledon I, but no...the crypt with the raven emblem, the ghost, the crackle of the burning tree...I knew it could only be yours!

Dark Victorian Dance: Let the Madness Commence!

The stars were right and creatures of the otherworld descended upon Cthulhu (aka Schnabel) Grove for a Lovecraftian Party thrown by the Dark Victoria group. Lord Edward looked positively ghoulish at the turntable as his lovely wraith wife Countess Primbroke, and Her Grace Gabrielle Riel, danced before him...Let the slavering begin! Lady Darkling dared me to touch the glowing Yog-Sothoth Avalanche. I thought better of it, knowing bad things would probably befall me...
Old gods and dark folk and wyrms, oh my!
There were tentacles to spare! Cthulhu O'Toole certainly had enough of them to go around!
He later made an appearance as a Mind Flayer and Miss Yith Begonia swirled dancing with hers. More tentacles, hurray! Tiny Cthulhu Goodliffe was threatening to drag folks away--particularly the ladies...
Was it all just a hallucination?

Just Another Saturday in Caledon

Which means being out and about like mad...No place with legends of pirates and rumrunners would be complete without its underground tunnels. After a fruitless attempt to see what was hidden beneath Victoria City, Mr. Margulis and I went to the Cay. You will have to find the entry yourself, but once inside, the tunnels take you to other points...Such as this very nice, quiet cavern...
After my tour was complete, I put on more somber garments and the Major and I took a minute to overlook Dragon's Light and Mr. Szondi's Fortune restaurant behind us...
And then I was off to the first meeting of the Dark Victorian group, which included Miss Tammas, Prof. Avalanche, Mr. Epsilon, Miss Schnabel, and Miss Begonia. I have been good lately, but a little sip of absinthe didn't hurt. Perched on Miss Schnabel's settee is her wayward cousin, Miss Matova...
...who along with her brother Phineas, will be staying with Miss Schnabel for a while. Something about fire and curtains-stealing. Mr. Matova is a...special...sort and after falling off to the ground, was delivered a swift kick by Miss Begonia. I do not think he noticed.
I made sure to check that I still had my reticule as I do believe he made off with many wallets. How he acquired the Guvnah's carriage license I fear I shall never know...
