New Steelhead Embassy in Winterfell Absinthe

Lunar asked me about using my museum building for the new embassy in Winterfell Absinthe. With a few tweaks involving some wall removals, a new back doorway and a retexture, I placed it in a nice little spot next to the Hut des Jagers...I created a wallpaper texture based upon a William Morris design...And in the back, Lunar created a bit of Pacific Northwest woodlands for folks to enjoy. He is still in the process of moving welcome items and finishing its details, but do feel free to stop by and enjoy this piece of Steelhead!Being a bunny builder is hard work...

Silks in Steelhead

Two weeks ago, some of us ladies agreed to show up at the next meeting in Steelhead in silks. Last week, only Genie Burton and Miss Lumina did so as the rest of us forgot. So we ladies made up for it and attended in our silks. I was told I cheated for entering in a full fur coat. I mean, it's cold outside and I took it off didn't I?Miss Agatha Sungsoo went afk this meeting...
Managers Miss Hilra and Mr Eclipse, along with Sheriff Fuzz, look over the Harborside map. It's not too late as we still have a few 512 and 1024 parcels left if you, or someone you know would like one...

A New Steelhead Town Hall (and a Chicken Too!)

I walked across to the Steelhead Gardens and Miss Elvejhem was putting the final touches on a frozen skating pond! I made her and Miss Weatherwax laugh as I did jumps, twirls, and tricks as I glided around...Steelhead's new town hall is complete! Hoooo! Mr Eclipse did a lovely job! It will house the medical clinic, Mr Eclipse, Miss Hilra, and Sheriff Ortega's offices, as well as the new jail. I am personally excited about having an office on the third floor for the Anvil...
Later that evening, we all attended our first town meeting in the new Hall. Poor Dr. Mason made the mistake of going away for a long time and was chickened...and fishbowled...and flaming cowed...
Many of us stopped to chat in the large main gallery afterwards. What a beautiful build it is!

First Aethernet Issue of the Steelhead Anvil Newspaper!

I have been enjoying myself as the new editor and just released the first aethernet issue of the Steelhead Anvil today! HOOOO!!!!

I will set out dispensers for the notecard version after Mr Writer has completed scripting them for me. Many thanks to the citizens of Steelhead and Miss Eggberta Etchegaray, editor of the New Babbage Cog, for their advice and help in this new endeavor!

First Pick in Steelhead Harborside

I am utterly thrilled and honored to have had the very first pick to choose a lot in the new Steelhead Harborside sim! I selected what I believe will be a beautiful parcel on the end on the peninsula overlooking the water on all sides. Although I maintain apartments in Regency and the shop in Mayfair, I have never had a true Colonial District home so I am very, very excited!I was still dressed in my kimono from being at my friend Mr Anatine's store's grand opening. Here I am with Mr Eclipse and Dr Mason looking at the plans...

I had a great time talking with the Sheriff, Mr Eclipse and Dr Mason. Everyone is so excited about Steelhead's expansion. Soon Miss Hilra joined us and she and Mr Eclipse posed for me in their bird (and wyrmling?) AVs...
Earlier I had caught up with my "boss", Dominic Webb, and helped him test out his vendor. My task was such that I was muttering "evil dragon employer" and "truly a long-suffering assistant." Scripters and their scripty scriptiness...

Big News in Steelhead

Went to the Steelhead town meeting tonight and two big things happened. First, the citizens decided upon the official flag...And the 3D map of the new Harborside project to the North was unveiled. If you're interested in land there, you can contact TotalLunar Eclipse. I think it is going to be beautiful and couldn't resist putting in for a spot myself...

Never a Dull Steelhead Moment

As the new editor of the Steelhead Anvil-Telegraph, I had a lot of notecards and meeting minutes to sift through to familiarize myself with everything. I got comfortable in the Gardens across the street as I went about my work...A red bloom in the Bay? No. I wish it was algae. That's lava. As in red hot, I do not want to fall into that, lava, yet the marine life was still leaping merrily within it. Oh my. Never a dull moment...

Steelhead's Newest Citizen

That would be me.

The good Dr. Mason invited me to join him at Steelhead's town meeting, which was one of the funniest civic events I've ever been to. I love Steelhead's quirkiness. While there I heard about storefront possibilities and took my winnings from the costume contest to open the Steelhead branch of my E.Laval Fine Clothing shop! You may find me next to FizzWorks across from Town Hall near the Kokopelli stage. I am looking forward to getting to know my new neighbors. Hooray!

The Moon is Distant from the Sea

For an anonymous gentleman...

THE MOON is distant from the sea,
And yet with amber hands
She leads him, docile as a boy,
Along appointed sands.

He never misses a degree;
Obedient to her eye,
He comes just so far toward the town,
Just so far goes away.

Oh, Signor, thine the amber hand,
And mine the distant sea,—
Obedient to the least command
Thine eyes impose on me.

Miss Laval in the Country

My rambunctious younger sister Baube and I went away to the Laval family country-house for the day to visit our Gran. It was nice to have a bit of fresh air among the apple and walnut trees and violet irises. I did a little sketching and curled up with a good book as the hummingbirds and butterflies flitted by. I have been a bit remiss in my creative life lately. I did manage this self-portrait though...
I was glad that Baube and I did not have another croquet incident again though! The last time left me hiding a scar just before a portrait sitting. Let us just say that I can wield a croquet mallet as well...

A polite "quiet" pasttime indeed.

Dancing the Night Away

Mr. Mako Magellan's grand opening of his menswear shop in Victoria City was today. I stopped by to show my support...and dance a "little". Here I am with Marcell Anatine who looked splendid in this Magellan ensemble. Very "Master and Commander..."Later on that evening, I headed over to the investiture ball for the court of Carntaigh...
I ended up with a full dance card tonight (thank my lucky stars given the notorious ratio here), and twirled about with gents such as Sir Zen, who looked very "fannnnnncy" in his court dress and the sword he was knighted with...
...and Jarl Padenborn, who is quite a wonderful conversationalist.
I stopped through Regency for a moment to find a group on my neighbors Mr. Knight and Miss Greenspan's roof--being flung across the sim in a homemade catapult. I had to excuse myself early as I was preparing to leave for the country, but I must try it sometime!

Just Another Saturday in Caledon

Which means being out and about like mad...No place with legends of pirates and rumrunners would be complete without its underground tunnels. After a fruitless attempt to see what was hidden beneath Victoria City, Mr. Margulis and I went to the Cay. You will have to find the entry yourself, but once inside, the tunnels take you to other points...Such as this very nice, quiet cavern...
After my tour was complete, I put on more somber garments and the Major and I took a minute to overlook Dragon's Light and Mr. Szondi's Fortune restaurant behind us...
And then I was off to the first meeting of the Dark Victorian group, which included Miss Tammas, Prof. Avalanche, Mr. Epsilon, Miss Schnabel, and Miss Begonia. I have been good lately, but a little sip of absinthe didn't hurt. Perched on Miss Schnabel's settee is her wayward cousin, Miss Matova...
...who along with her brother Phineas, will be staying with Miss Schnabel for a while. Something about fire and curtains-stealing. Mr. Matova is a...special...sort and after falling off to the ground, was delivered a swift kick by Miss Begonia. I do not think he noticed.
I made sure to check that I still had my reticule as I do believe he made off with many wallets. How he acquired the Guvnah's carriage license I fear I shall never know...

Below Fort Caledon

I had just called upon Mr. Margulis at Dragon's Light last night, when a sim region restart began counting down. "Would you care for an adventure?" he asked. "Yes!" I said and followed him to Fort Caledon in Caledon I. An adventure? How could I possibly resist?

At the top of the hill among its ruins, there is an unassuming park. Mr. Margulis said a bit of hocuspocusabracadabra and voila! The statue slid away, exposing an opening, and he hopped right in. I walked to the edge, shrugged and followed, landing below in a wondrous cavernous place, with magic words to tp you, and sights that you should really see for yourself.
He asked me to join him for tea and when I sat down, we were whisked away to another level in the form of an elegant underground mansion! I could not resist the console, pressing at buttons and pulling the levers, looking at projected images about building and such. The Major was dancing on a platform that I had materialized, but I pulled the lever again, dropping him below. Oops? I peered over the edge and he seemed to be alright...still dancing away.
I had a wonderful time. Thank you for trying to cheer me up sir!

Happy Birthday LordAlbert!

Today was my friend and Regency neighbor LordAlbert Heron's 40th birthday and Lady Edwina thought it should be celebrated in grand style with a Radio Riel party at Carntaigh! Here I am dancing with him in his sailor suit. There was a nice turnout...you know how much we Caledonians love a good party!
It was great to see my very good friend Offie Mulberry, owner and designer of Forever Tiny. We took a moment to chat and catch up with one another...
Here I am dancing with my favorite dark Victorian Mr. Goodliffe, who brought his raven Ingrid and was dressed in his priest cossack. I'm sure seeing a tiny ferret with a "Dark Victorian" tag is not the norm for a tiny, but I'm not the cutesy type...despite my "cute" appearance. Offie laughed and laughed and agreed when I told her this. I need more tiny black/dark-colored dresses Miss Mulberry!

Happy Birthday LordAlbert!

Of Menswear and A Patient Model

The men of Caledon are some of the best dressed in SL and we ladies love them for it.

As primarily a menswear designer, I'll admit that I truly get a kick out of choosing fabrics, creating the final piece, and seeing my pieces being worn and enjoyed. I am always tickled by that and I can't be alone in that feeling. I know that my fellow menswear designers such as Mr. Magellan, Lord Primbroke (Edward Pearse), Mr. Wrangler, Miss Vandeverre, Miss Tombola, and Miss Lightfoot all take great pride in their work. We women have options to spare, but I think the gents are pretty happy about having more options available to them.

For my "Namesake" line of waistcoats (which really are named after my friends), I've tried to match the man to the waistcoat and both to a Caledon location for the ad shot. Tonight, I finally got around to shooting Mr. G. Hax's on his rooftop garden and in the air in Eyre...Usually my shoots are quick and painless and my "models" can attest to that. Tonight was a little different and had some fitting involved. He was very patient (not something that I know him to always be), and only balked at adjusting his cravat once...
We had a lot of fun and you can see the final photo and the "Gryffin" waistcoat in my E.Laval shops. Being a model is hard work, so we danced a waltz to celebrate the shoot's end. A designer's work is never done!
