Port Regency

Capt. Koba has been very busy with his land across from mine in Caledon Regency. He has turned it into a lovely waterside marina and port. It is open to all to use and will soon have little shops there as well. He has so graciously allowed me to have my little Trudeau sailboat, the "Zephyr", moored there as I don't have waterside property any more. I believe it is quite a lovely addition to our sim!

Freefall

After the joint Steelhead-Caledon fox hunt event at Loch Avie, we danced in Steelhead...Afterwards, I was walking through my lovely neighborhood in Mayfair and happened to see the ferry pull up and thought "Why not?" I took a fun quick trip around Carntaigh, Cay, Caledon On Sea and back...
Then I thought that I would test Mr Writer's newest skydiving lift...Thank God for parachute devices and, ahem, glitch pants...

Caledon on "The 2nd Question"

I was asked to be on a panel tonight for the slcn.tv SL quiz/talk show "The 2nd Question", as part of a Caledon/Industrial Revolution-themed show. Given my RL degree in history, I'd say I did rather respectably in the trivia portion, as I knew about Luddites, the Oddfellows being mechanics, and that Dickens worked in a blacking factory. I was a bit slow to the buzzer for other answers and I will admit that I am not a fan of voice, but it was an interesting experience for me. My fellow panelists were Sir JJ Drinkwater, Sir ZenMondo Wormser and Dr Rafael Fabre...I was quite nervous, but it went by fast. You may see it on their website HERE...

A Circus!

After checking in on my shop in Port Babbage's Spiral Arcade, I was contemplating the purchase of a new dress when a gentleman engaged me in conversation. I soon found out that he was Mr Ichabod Story, a circus showman. He and his wife Jezebelle, are soon to open a circus in Babbage Palisade in a few weeks. He invited me to come see and told me there will be fire breathers, jugglers, clowns, perhaps even a human blockhead and exotic animals! How exciting!

A Gallop Through Caledon

I was next door in Mayfair and heard that the new Steelhead Embassy in Penzance had been completed, so I hopped on Flashy and rode over. I tethered him and took a look at the beautiful new building...
Afterwards I did something that I used to really enjoy: a cross-nation gallop. North-South Road from Penzance to Vic City, then West through the Moors to Tamrannoch...
From there I took the East-West Road straight across to Caledon I, where I found some water for Flashy and celebrated our ride by having a pleasant turkey twirl...
When I arrived back at the shop in Regency, I found Zoe there and we had a really good time chatting and catching up. I would say that I had a very good evening indeed...

Gogbot and Europan Celebrations

First, I attended a party in Steeltopia that was part of the GogBot Arts, Media and Technology Festival going on in the Netherlands...And then I headed over to celebrate with the Wulfenbach/Girl Genius folks at their "Spark Ball" celebrating the Europan Embassy's 1st anniversary in Steelhead...

Quite a Resemblance?

I was enjoying some tea on the roof of my lighthouse and saw Mr Eclipse working on the land...He took a break and showed me a most curious picture he received from Dr Alter's minion Cato Quan of a white-haired elf known for its cookies. I swear, those two are still out and about?

An Evening Out and About...

I started off my evening in Steelhead, where Mr Writer and Mr Eclipse discussed the addition of a new elevator to Mr Eclipse and Miss Hilra's office in Town Hall...
Afterwards I visited the steampunk sky city of Laputa...
And then, I did something that I hadn't done in a while...took Flashy for a ride from Victoria City to Regency. Here we are in Wellsian (or is it Stormhold?) looking up at a Falcon tower...

Kitty on the Podium

I attended Steelhead's town meeting tonight. Just in case you were wondering what a "typical" one could be like...imagine pigeons in a jury box and a cat on the podium. Miss Hilra seems to be taking it in stride. To her right are the awards in recognition of Steelhead's participation in SL RFL...

Yes, I Took it Too...

Oh...just because...

Your result for The Steampunk Style Test...

The Explorer

11% Elegant, 17% Technological, 17% Historical, 80% Adventurous and 63% Playful!

You are the Explorer, the embodiment of steampunk’s adventuring spirit. For you, clothing should be rugged and reliable, and just as functional as it is attractive. You probably prefer khaki or leather, and your accessories are as likely to include weapons as technological gizmos. You probably wear boots and gloves, and maybe a pith helmet. Most of what you wear is functional, and if you happen to wear goggles people had better believe that you use them. In addition to Victorian exploration gear, your outfit probably includes little knickknacks from your various travels. Above all, you are a charming blend of rugged Victorian daring and exotic curiosity.

Duchesses & Lots o' Trout!

My evening started out innocently enough with Duchess Dia (yes, I can call her that!) and the Duchess of Argylle and I having a great time making a triple decker Lunar sandwich at the reception party for the Moon Over Caledon exhibit at Kintyre. The portraits really are lovely...especially the gents' to me, given their incredible variety on display: human, demon, mech, equine, furry...The exhibit is up until Sept. 17 so don't miss your opportunity to see it...Do not leave Steelheaders to their own devices or they just might rez sword fish Steelhead trout and whack each other gleefully with them...
Afterwards, we went to visit Dia at her home in the Sound and chatted about potential duchy duties. Lunar said something about "hard working". I wasn't quite sure what the job entailed...
And Miss Hilra let loose with a torrent of fish from her fish gun in the parlor. Yes, Dia & I are under them somewhere. They then proceeded to both take out their huge guns. Chickens, mice and more mayhem ensued. I kicked up my feet on the settee and just got comfortable. Tea and gunpowder coming right up!

Gothic Fashion at FIT

This is only slightly OOC, as it does pertain to Victorian fashion in a way. My RL sister is a fashion merchandising student at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC. We discussed her recent homework assignment regarding the school museum's "Gothic: Dark Glamour" exhibit that recently opened. I went there briefly myself after undergrad for their design program and remember being taken behind the scenes of this museum--the only one in NYC dedicated to fashion. Imagine being surrounded by carefully preserved pieces--both historic and modern. I was in heaven. The current exhibit is a mix of both as well, discussing gothic fashion's roots and current incarnations, with include Lolita, cyberpunk and steampunk. It will be there until February '09, so if you are interested, go see it if you are there.

Pausing...and a Fish Fight

Mondays have traditionally always shopkeeping days for me, when I check inventory, rents, box items and create vendors, and create pieces, but I had to do everything on a Tuesday instead. Afterwards, I leaned on the railing of the mezzanine of my Caledon Regency shop and looked down over the floor below.

First, I thought, "I have really created a lot" and of that, I'm truly proud. Then, I looked over at the Inkyboy Gallery and thought, "I love Gryffin's work and that octopus is way too much fun."

I'll be releasing some new menswear and steampunk ensembles for the Fall. I love what I do and I'm lucky to be able to share it with everyone... Later, I checked on my shop in Steeltopia and went across the street to the Embassy of Steelhead. I ended up ducking under the stairs with my Tombola Steelhead "sword fish" fighting trout as Lunar and Miss Hilra got into a full-fledged parrot vs. fish gun fight. I'm sure that was quite some cleanup afterwards...

Wandering Through Rivet Town

While my new shop is upcoming in its latest sim, I am currently sharing a shop with my dear friend Newbe Writer in Rivet Town East. This strict RP steampunk Victorian sim has been gaining in popularity and after I set up, I wandered through town and came upon this lovely square...I walked along the town's canal...
Who is this Mordecai that has been so memorialized?
I saw an interesting ruined beach nearby, but my attention was caught by an island with a tower of Tesla coils. I love seeing new sims and how they and their community develop...

A Masquerade

One of the concluding events of Steelhead's fairy tales festival was a masquerade, surrounded by the art hung in the ballroom...Here I am in front of mine and Gryffin's contributions. Congrats on a lovely festival! I am looking forward to the storytelling again soon!

Snow Queens and Snow Whites

Tonight's dance in Steelhead's theme was in keep with the fairy tale festival, so we all came dressed as favorite fairy and folktale characters...Me? I came as Hans Christian Andersen's "Snow Queen". Behind me is artwork by Miss Katat0nic Pidgeon...

Fairy Tales Kickoff & Swan Sitting in Regency

I managed to catch the end of Steelhead's fairy tale festival storytelling session tonight as Col. O'Toole regaled us with a story from 1001 Nights...An overview of the ballroom and its fanciful decorations, including an orrery by Miss Hilra suspended from the ceiling...
Later that evening, Lunar and I had a bit of fun sitting on the swans in the central waters behind my shop in Regency, much to the surprise of my neighbor Mr Palisades. My cleaning bill will be a bit interesting given all of that satin and velvet, but at least I won't have to burn it like the dress I wore exploring the sewers that time...
