VictorianStyle Fashion Show!

Some of my pieces are featured in a fashion show hosted by the Atlantis Modeling Agency this weekend...Here is show announcer Lady ShayLee Greenspan wearing my Regency RedGold...
Rezzing was a bit of a problem for me, but you can see Duke Regent Kintyre modeling my Alex waistcoat ensemble...

It was well-attended and I was glad for the opportunity to have my work presented...

E.Laval Haberdasher New Release: Men's Wool Coat

I've been pretty busy designing lately and I have finally released the men's fall/winter wool coat. Made with charcoal bespoke fabric, it comes with black vintage velvet lapels and a brown fur collar with matching cuffs. The top hat is included and you can find it at my shops in Regency, Mayfair or Steelhead...

E.Laval Fashion Review!

The Baron reviewed my menswear in his online journal today...

While I felt that he somewhat commended me, I winced at the word "loud" (knowing of his penchant for darker colors) and took issue with some other points, of which you can read in my comment to the post itself.

Once, in RL, over lunch I asked a very well-known symphony chorus conductor how he felt about reviews. He raised an eyebrow, looked at me and grimaced. "Fffft!" he practically hissed in disgust. "I don't. I just can't pay attention to them. I think about how I discuss and disagree with my colleagues. Imagine if we were writing the review--you'd have one person who loved it and another who hated it. It is too subjective."

Do not misunderstand me, as a new designer I am most certainly glad and appreciative for the review, and will still think about what was said. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...

Of Menswear and A Patient Model

The men of Caledon are some of the best dressed in SL and we ladies love them for it.

As primarily a menswear designer, I'll admit that I truly get a kick out of choosing fabrics, creating the final piece, and seeing my pieces being worn and enjoyed. I am always tickled by that and I can't be alone in that feeling. I know that my fellow menswear designers such as Mr. Magellan, Lord Primbroke (Edward Pearse), Mr. Wrangler, Miss Vandeverre, Miss Tombola, and Miss Lightfoot all take great pride in their work. We women have options to spare, but I think the gents are pretty happy about having more options available to them.

For my "Namesake" line of waistcoats (which really are named after my friends), I've tried to match the man to the waistcoat and both to a Caledon location for the ad shot. Tonight, I finally got around to shooting Mr. G. Hax's on his rooftop garden and in the air in Eyre...Usually my shoots are quick and painless and my "models" can attest to that. Tonight was a little different and had some fitting involved. He was very patient (not something that I know him to always be), and only balked at adjusting his cravat once...
We had a lot of fun and you can see the final photo and the "Gryffin" waistcoat in my E.Laval shops. Being a model is hard work, so we danced a waltz to celebrate the shoot's end. A designer's work is never done!

Of Waistcoats and Waiting!

I had the pleasure of meeting fellow menswear designer Mako Magellan of Kittiwick the other day and he previewed three new suits for me. As I am very new to shopkeeping and maintaining a men's fine clothiers, it is always nice to talk/commiserate with a colleague. Every shopkeeper that I know works very hard.

RL had pulled me away from being able to sit down and buckle down and create and it will happen again tonight, but I do promise that E.Laval Haberdasher will open next week. Two Caledonians are currently wearing my pieces right now if you would like a preview: Mr. HyBosch Otsuzum of Kittiwick and Sir Telemachus Dean of Caledon Cay (who is healing rather nicely, I was told).

Truly a work in progress!

Setting Up Shop

Greetings! I have decided to set up shop in Mayfair: E.Laval Haberdasher & atELier. I am rather tickled at the prospect.

I was busy changing all of the exterior textures as I wanted it to remind me of one of the many brick Victorian-era structures that we have in my hometown. I hope to finish with my inventory soon and open shop within the next two weeks (or less!).

Gentlemen, all that I can say is "waistcoats to die for."
