Packing It All Up

Here I am sitting on top of my build of the Gearz club. I had a wonderful time being involved in Steelhead's RFL build, but now it was was time to dismantle it...All three mini-builds might be available in the Ballroom later...
But the wonderful Wulfenbach Castle will more than likely not be rezzed again...
We were all sad to see it go, but Miss Tanaraian Davies, Lunar, Mr SteelCobra Calamari, Mr VelesJaeger Munster and I celebrated it by riding the train for almost an hour talking and laughing...
Thank you everyone!

SL Relay for Life...Thank You

I walked alongside fellow Caledonians Mr Dagger, Miss Book, Miss Messmer, and Her Grace Duchess Primverness during the Survivor/Caregiver lap today at SL Relay for Life...We fought through tremendous lag, but it was so touching to see the folks lined up alongside the track to cheer us on. I did over 20K m worth of walking before I was done, which makes the over 300K m worth of laps that Lord Vid did really amazing! When I finished the Survivor/Caregiver lap, I headed over to Caledon's site to see him off...
Thank you all so much for your support and participation in RFL. Thanks to folks such as you, RFL was able to raise over $53 million Lindens (over $197,000 USD)! Mom & Robert, I love you both...

Caledon's RFL build

I had a chance to stop through Mr Equine McMillan's wonderful steampunky build for Caledon's RFL site when I went to set up my RFL vendors there. I thought I had pictures of the upper levels, but they seem to have not gone through...

Caledon RFL Swashbuckler's Auction

Ah, today is was the men's turn, and thanks to generous bidders today's Caledon RFL Swashbuckler's Men's Auction raised over L$287K, which brings Team Caledon back into 3rd place in SL overall with a total raised so far of L$1,350,700!The posters were created by portrait artist Mr Jaksoi Pak. Three of my favorite gents were brave enough to put themselves on the block today: My dear friend Sir Tele, who I actually met at and became good friends with after last year's event...
Talented steampunk inventor and my wonderful building and business partner Kheph...
And Phin, the gent who makes me rather giddy on a regular basis that I actually won my bid on!
Everyone had a good time dancing in their pirate-y best, including Dr Bob Margulies here!

Dark Victorian Show

Today was the big Dark Victorian "Dark City" show, featuring Victorian designs of a more gothic feel...I was nervous to be on the runway, but here I am in my new "Godey Nightfall". I have also made the Lola Midnight available as a RFL item, so if you see it in a vendor, its purchase proceed goes towards RFL...
Lady Patty and Puck enjoy the show...
Bastchild & Lapointe (designs below) were the featured designers, but there were also great pieces from Lapin Paris, Fuschia Begonia, Terry Lightfoot and yours truly!
Afterwards, we danced in Dame Lapin's lovely build as Dia spun goth tunes. Yes, I'm the one in the mourning veil...

Dancing, Dates, and Delight

I walked down the street from my Regency home to Miss Hirvi's park, where she was debuting Miss Maar Auer's minuet danceballs. They were quite well-done, and it was fun seeing all of us doing this...I'm sure we will be seeing them at future Caledon get-togethers...
After stopping through to congratulate Mr Smashcan on the opening of his new Norseman pub in Cape Wrath, Phin and I then went to the future 1950s-themed Team Caledon RFL Ladies Auction, where he ended up being the big bidder on me! The auction itself raised over $L328,000! Thank you all so much for coming out and participating!
A new friend, in exchange for a kindness of mine, gifted me with this gorgeous Friesian horse. The realistic look of this horse is incredible. I hope she will come out with a sidesaddle version, but it is still a work in progress by the maker and doesn't ride as well as my AKK and Tombolas (yet). But you know what they say about gift horses, so thank you very much sir!

Here's Your Chance Gents!!!

Those are my eyes looking back at you from Team Caledon's SL Relay for Life Ladies Auction posters and the cover of Caledon's booklet filled with stories of those in our nation affected by cancer. I found that trying to summarize my experiences over this past year for it to be one of the hardest things I've ever written, and I am a writer in RL! This Saturday is the Ladies Auction, a chance for you gents out there to have an uninterrupted, exciting outing with a notable Caledonian woman of your choice, including me! It will be this Saturday, March 22, from 2-5 SLT. You can click one of the main posters inworld to find out who all of us are, so I'll tell you what we could do if you bid on me!

- Have a E.Laval Haberdasher waistcoat named after you. Not only do you get to model it and have it as a gift, but it will be offered as E.Laval's RFL donation item- A Wynx tiny AV of your choice and a chance for a highflying adventure as a passenger with the Royal Caledon Air Force's Screamin' Tinies Squadron Leader herself!
- A spin around the Firth in the infamous "Suicide" Runner boat...
- Dancing, wine and great conversation under the stars in my meadow. If you haven't seen it yet, you won't forget it!I can also give you a tour of some of the "secret" places of Caledon or we could do something else of your choosing!

Last year, I was a member of Caledon's SL Relay for Life team to benefit the American Cancer Society and under the captainship of the now Dame Lapin Paris, Team Caledon raised more than $L 1,000,000. It was a moving experience for me to have been a part of that. This year's goal for Caledon's final total is $L 3,000,000. I am actually formally part of Team Elizabeth Blackwell, under the captainship of the Duke of Murdann, but will be helping Caledon to reach its goal in whatever way is asked of me!

Please remember when you are participating or giving, that it's not about the events, but the people that you can truly help by contributing to research to help end this disease...

A Hug from Miss Paris

I meant to post this photo with the rest the other day...

This is Caledon's team captain Miss Paris giving me a hug after completing my lap (as Miss G looks on). She is truly amazing and I'll be thinking good thoughts for her.

SL Relay for Life Day 2: Winding Down

I thought I'd wise up this time and wear roller skates under my relay colors ballgown (8 am was the formal attire hour after all) as I skated through sims like this Huck Finn-themed one...I could not resist a picture at the Journey to the Center of the Earth. Good dinosaur! Good dinosaur...
I realized that even skates weren't as fast and hopped on Flashy. Seeing how many other riders there were, it seems I was not unique. Her Grace, CoyoteAngel Dimsum, joined me for the rest of my lap and in her canine form she had no trouble keeping up at all as she was outrunning Flashy! It was so nice to have company as we practically flew around the track's bends...
A little over a hour since I first left camp, I returned. This is something that I am so glad to have experienced...
The final total raised so far was L$31,733,401! Almost $116K USD!!! Team Caledon placed 9th in overall team amounts raised with a total so far of L$1,298,439 and after 18.5 hours on the track, Mr. Vollmar (as a cheetah today) placed 4th in track laps run with a total of 17! Huzzah! Hooray for our team captain Miss Paris, SLRFL team members, and those who donated their money or time! We should all be very proud of what has been accomplished! And after listening to the closing ceremonies, even the aliens danced...

SL Relay for Life Day 1 Start: Go Caledon GO!

Today was the first day of the Second Life Relay for Life event this weekend and I'm wearing one of the official Caledon uniforms, a Caledon kilt outfit made by Lady Amber. Here we all are cheering Miss Paris (accompanied by Mr. Vollmar) on during the opening lap, walked by survivors and caregivers. While I awaited my turn next lap, I danced a jig back at the campsite with the Mirandas--who had come out to support the runners. Once I got started on the track, I had a chance to see some really fantastic sims like the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea...
And keeping with that theme, later I looked down into the Center of the Earth...
I took a pause at the Tomb Raider sim to admire the sunset...

SL Relay for Life Day 1: A Long Rewarding Road

I walked the track like a meditation labyrinth through the 32 sims, thinking about the past few months and hopeful for the future now...You just have to have a gigantic monster destroying a town sim...you just have to...
After almost 2 hours non-stop and non-crash , I finally made it back to the main Caledon campsite, where much "HOOOO!"ing and dancing was going on...I had seen some fantastic things. Some touching things too...like the folks who were lined up along one sim saluting as I went past, or another where they cheered. I can only hope that others felt as good coming through the Caledon campsite to see all of us "Hoooo"ing like mad for them. To know that folks took the time to create all of this and come out, means so much. I needed a minute by myself when I first came back and then, all I wanted to do was strap on some ice skates and take a twirl on the ice. Mr. Margulis joined me, looking lovely in his not-so-secret Miranda Society uniform...
And of course later we raved into the night at Carntaigh! Miss Laval in the house! Here I am with the Tartans (Mr. Margulis, Mr. Drinkwater and Sir Zen) dancing with me...mind you, I didn't have my flaming torch yet and yes, it turned into one of those Caledon parties...What a day!

A Shining Little Hope

On the eve of the SL Relay for Life event, I just have some things I need to say and will break "character" here for a moment:
Mom, I love you...you've been so brave over these past few months. We were so scared and uncertain at first, but your courage and optimism helped to set the standard for me and the rest of us. It was because of your strength that we realized moving forward was the only direction that one could go. Despite it all, we have still been able to laugh.

Uncle Jack and Uncle John...I love and miss you both so much...Rose, you are missed too...

This is why people...This is why.

Relay for Life and Reality Check

I wasn't at the militia RP, and I've heard a lot about what did or didn't transpire there. I would just like to say this: Do not lose sight of what it was really for.

One of the first persons I met as a new Caledon resident was Miss Paris, Caledon's Relay for Life team leader and a 3-year survivor. At the Steampunk Expo, we both got a chance to really talk about why RFL was important and I joined the team right then and there. Why is it so important to me? In RL, my mother is finishing radiation treatment for breast cancer as we speak and I lost an uncle that I loved very much to prostate cancer. I'm proud to be a "Hare Raiser" and our hardworking team and those who have been supporting this cause should be very proud as well. Caledon's SLRFL has raised over $1000000L and I am looking forward to doing my time on the track next weekend on July 27-28.

This morning, Miss Paris sent out a group notice to the team that a fellow SLRFL team captain, Stori Knopfli, lost her battle with the disease this morning.

We might fight aliens. We might fight one another. But there are even bigger battles that are being fought...
