Her Grace Duchess of Sound, thought that throwing a regatta to celebrate the Firth and giving it one last send-off as we know it in the face of the recent openspace sim changes would be a fun event. I agreed. I missed the earlier one and went to the later regatta.
I had recently purchased a coal-powered vessel and was ready to make my trip around the Firth with the others!I realized as I went around how well I knew these waters and how much I loved being upon them. As I chugged ahead towards the Sound Marina, I realized the others were now behind me!That meant I won the race itself! Oh my! Yay! I was tickled to accept my trophy, and Mr Vivito Volare won one as well for "Silliest Vessel" for his catfish in a bathtub! We celebrated as we Caledonians do best--with dancing! Even Mr Volare, and the Duke of Murdann, Lord Otenth, did so as well as a Viking ferret. A fun time was had by all!

Change...
Whether through no fault of our own or of our own choosing, change does happen. Things that are familiar to our lives in here surprise us with the fierceness of the memories we attach to them. Today, I sold my first land in Caledon to my neighbor Mr Melnik. I enjoyed tweaking this little plot, adding things and having fun with it. Riding Flashy from it across the nation. Target practice in the backyard. Just sitting on the ground in the back talking with Puck. Tea with Eds in the carriage house. It being set afire during the great Mayfair Alien Invasion for RFL. Using it as my home when the servers were so bad I couldn't log in anywhere else. I loved this little parcel. I will still be maintaining my store in Regency and as a Messmer, we have land in Mayfair and Penzance, but I remember my great joy and excitement upon purchasing this parcel and while sorry to let it go, change happens...
There is no need for me to speak any more upon the utter pain and anger that so many of the peerage in Caledon have felt upon the losses of their openspace duchy sims. To choose to leave is one thing, but to be forced to is another. To say that our community has not been irrevocably altered by this particular change would be a lie on my part. Tonight, I attended the last event--a holiday ball--at the duchy of Loch Avie. As I twirled through the snow with Lunar, I thought once again about how you become familiar with a place, and there is a comfort in that, even in here. Your Grace, thank you for the lovely things you have done for the Caledon community and Loch Avie will be truly missed.

SOLD! Caledon Mayfair Parcel Available
This property has been sold. Thank you.
I am selling the parcel rights to my lovely little lot and original Caledon land in charming Caledon Mayfair...
The lot is at #5 Lemon Street and Green, next to the rail tracks and down the way from the Connolly Aerodrome and Penzance. The neighbors in Mayfair are friendly and quiet and it has been quite a nice place to have a small shop.
I am selling it for $7364L, which is original price I purchased the land rights for from the Guvnah and it has 70 days rent included. You will continue to pay tier (375L/wk) to him. It is a 1024 lot with 234 prims available and if you would like to have the shop building, I will be more than happy to include it. It was a wonderful Caledon starter property for me and I hope it will be for the next resident as well! Click HERE if you would like to visit and see the property.
Please feel free to contact me inworld via IM or notecard if you are interested. Thank you!

Steampunk Santa Comes to Steelhead
Tonight was Steelhead's Holiday Dance. Miss Elvejhem created lovely decorations for the stage area and I had a nice time dancing with the Baron and later with Mr. Munster, with whom I discussed lots of interesting things including jagers' love of great hats...
At its conclusion Steampunk Santa Pearse arrived bringing candy canes and coal for everyone! YAY!

And a Jager Came from the East...
This is a bit of a round-up of events from the last few days. Being a long-time resident of Caledon Mayfair, I was delighted to attend the opening of Mr Steadman Kondor's publishing emporium yesterday. He threw a small party not only to celebrate that occasion, but it being the Rez Day of Caledon Mayfair itself!
Mr. Greegar Hellershanks arrived on a camel dressed as one of the Wise Men...Later on that evening, I went to Steelhead to celebrate the birthday of it Emperor, Mr SteelCobra Calamari...
Oh! A bit of silliness from this week's Steelhead town meeting. Yes, we are all wearing red Rudolph the reindeer noses...

Goodbye Kaiserine...
We have lost another of our Caledon community. Today we learned that the Kaiserine of Neualtenburg and SL cousin to Duchesses Gabi and Eva, Kendra Bancroft (RL: Maddie Blaustein), passed away in RL. I know that I' won't forget the great times I've had celebrating Oktoberfest with her (that's her doing the chicken dance!). Many Caledonians will also remember her participation in the infamous Neualtenburg/Caledon War RP for RFL in 2007. She was very funny and fun to be around with a wicked sense of humor and she will certainly be missed.
Updated: Miss Gray sent out a group notice with this hilarious call-in that she did. Positively hilarious. You can listen to it HERE.

Excavation Dance in Steelhead
I went to Port Harbor's commons for Steelhead's Friday night dance ready with a shovel in hand and a wide-brimmed hat to shield me from the sun. I arrived to find all sorts of things unearthed...
Including a kitty bones Miss Hilra...And Mr Eclipse...who despite my poking him with my shovel--seemed content to lie there.

Sleighs and Other...Regency Things
I thought I'd try to get a bit of work done in the shop and heard the jingle of sleigh bells coming my way. I looked out and saw Miss Tombola testing her horse and sleigh, which will be available for tours of the Northern sims (Regency to Penzance, Eyre and a Tangle loop) quite soon. She told me that they are also tiny compatible!
I am a bit concerned about Mother Swan and her cygnets swimming in such icy water......but Mr Palisades' upside-down peacocks do concern me ever so slightly more...

Sights of Steelhead Port Harbor
Now that Steelhead Port Harbor is a bit more settled, I thought that I would take a few photographs of some of the interesting sites there such as the Hall of Justice, home of the Justice League Adventurers...
Col. O' Toole's home Polymath Eyrie...
The industrial complex of Evil Tiny Kitty Laboratories Warehouses...And the Krimson Karnival of Steeltopia......where I spent a bit of time armed with a flintlock gun...

Exhibit Openings and Armed Paddleboats
Today was the opening of my exhibit at the Caledon Library! I was so tickled that there was such a good turnout! Gabi played my interview on her podcast, Voices in the Machine, where you can hear me discuss the exhibit, my working process and a roundtable discussion about designing Victorian fashion with Mr Nix Sands, Miss Fuchsia Begonia, and Lord Edward Pearse. It is a lot of fun to listen to. Everyone seemed to really themselves and the exhibit will be up until the end of March. A thank you to all who came out today to see it...Afterwards, I thought I would relax at Laval Point. I saw Col. O'Toole going by on one of his new little Mosquito paddleboats by Miss Commons. We chatted for a moment and he is settling in well at his new home here in Steelhead. If you'd like a paddleboat of your own, stop by his home's dock on the rock at Polymath Eyrie and look for a wooden box. It's only 1L, seems like a lot of fun and oh--did I mentioned it is ARMED?
Steampunk Nativity Scene
Mr Hassanov and Miss Poppy have set up a wonderful steampunk nativity scene on her land in Caledon Morgaine. Steampunk builders are encouraged to add appropriate things for it that are 30 prims and under.

Victorian Fashion Exhibit in Caledon
Tomorrow, 12/7, will be the opening of my exhibit "The Past Reimagined: Victorian Fashion and the Designs of Eladrienne Laval" at the Whitehorn Memorial Library in Caledon Victoria City from 1-3 pm SLT... With the assistance of head librarian Sir JJ Drinkwater, we put together a retrospective of my work (I have created over 75 pieces since I started designing) giving you an idea of how a piece goes from historic source images and sketches to a final ensemble. It will discuss inspirations and give a side-by-side look. I also created an exhibit about Paris' first "couturier" who revolutionized dressmaking and fashion, Charles Frederick Worth...
With the help of library curator Miss Siri Woodget, we are also presenting an exhibit about one of Worth's wealthy patrons, Boston socialite Isabella Stewart Gardner, who is shown wearing her favorite Worth gown in this photograph...And here I am in the reproduction of it that I created, which uses the texture from its actual fabric. If you attend the salon discussion and opening tomorrow, you will have a chance to win this stunning dress. The exhibit will run until March 1, but I do hope to see you there!

Steelhead in the Primgraph Magazine
Yes, still playing catch-up here. Blame all of the turkey and stuffing...
Steelhead was featured in The Primgraph magazine recently. It discusses Steelhead's history, architecture and there are interviews with Steelhead residents, such as myself (I'm the "modiste", how lovely!) There is also a piece about Steelhead's Girl Genius community as well. I think folks reading it will come away knowing what a special place it is.
You can read the issue by clicking the cover photo or clicking HERE.

Steelhead Port Harbor is Here
Upon my return to Laval Point from the holiday, I realized that Port Harbor had arrived in my absence and my view from the lighthouse was much changed... I thought I would take a stroll over there as for me, one of the most exciting things is when a sim first opens. All is fresh and new with excitement and its residents are settling in...
Dear God, Lunar has truly outdone himself. I had been shown previews , but seeing it all come together is amazing...To me, Steelhead is truly a beautiful set of sims...I am glad to call it home.

The Grand Tour
I think the organizers have done a wonderful job with this event, with the dances and events switching from location to location the entire weekend. It has highlighted so many wonderful themed communities. Here is a list of all the communities that have participated: Colonia Nova, Orcadia, New Toulouse, Victoriana, Neufriedstadt, Winterfell, Caledon, New Babbage, Steeltopia, Al Andalus, Isles of Fatima, Wunderbar, Antiquity and Steelhead. The Grand Tour's final destination will be tonight in Steelhead at 5 SLT.
Congrats to Miss Fogwoman Gray and the respective sim organizers for the tour stops. This was a fantastic idea and if you have not visited some of these destinations, go. What a great way for us all to come together in a positive manner.
Here I am at Steelhead's ball, held in the Wulfenbach airship:

Grand Tour: Under the Sea in Argylle
To end tonight's stops on the Grand Tour, I went to Caledon Argylle for Lord Edward's Underwater Ball. I danced with the gentleman himself in his watertight dome, a good thing as I know of a rather large fish named Chester who makes his home in these waters...I then had the pleasure of dancing with Mr Eclectric Breitman, a rather witty conversationalist. I do love lightning bugs... The lovely mermaid Miss Tiziana Corleone......and Miss RubyRed Xue, who was in attendance at some of the other events and intrigued us as she strolled by outside the dome in a rudimentary diving helmet...
