It is always sad to hear of a major Steamlands region closing and the community of Victoriana will be doing so at the end of the month. Mayor LittleBlackDuck Lindsay cited many reasons, first and foremost being his frustration with Linden Labs and many of their recent policies, oversights and inaction. I do feel for Victoriana's residents, as one does become vested in their community and I am sorry to hear of this happening.

Steelhead Sim Opening Dance and Killer Deer
There was a nice turnout at tonight's dance celebrating the arrival of St Helen's...
However, its resident deer ran amok, causing quite a bit of panic. It seems it did not forget my chasing after it in ferret form the other night. Yes...it really was staring directly at me. I was reduced to a bit of a state of paranoia which caused me to utter the following statement that is now on many a profile of those present:

Steelhead Mt St Helen's is Here!
Steelhead's latest sim--Mt St Helen's--arrived! Here I am at the top looking over the whole sim...
I love when a sim is brand new and everything is being terraformed and added to it. I love the waterfall and trees...
Some of us gathered by the fire with marshmallows...
Later, I couldn't think of a better place to be a critter and chase (and be chased by) the deer through the woods...

The February Grand Tour
It being Valentine's Day weekend, I was not inworld for most of the Grand Tour, which rotated through locations in the historic and themed community sims of Neufriedstadt, Caledon, Colonia Nova, Oneiros, Artis Natur, Wonderland Gardens, Giverny, New Babbage, Steeltopia, Alpine Meadow, ROMA, Raglan Shire, Nantucket, Edison and ending in Steelhead...
I was able to make Steelhead's, whose Hotel & Ballroom looked as beautiful as the dancers swirling within it...

SOLD! Caledon Mayfair Parcel Available

I am selling the parcel rights to my lovely little lot and original Caledon land in charming Caledon Mayfair...
The lot is at #5 Lemon Street and Green, next to the rail tracks and down the way from the Connolly Aerodrome and Penzance. The neighbors in Mayfair are friendly and quiet and it has been quite a nice place to have a small shop.
I am selling it for $7364L, which is original price I purchased the land rights for from the Guvnah and it has 70 days rent included. You will continue to pay tier (375L/wk) to him. It is a 1024 lot with 234 prims available and if you would like to have the shop building, I will be more than happy to include it. It was a wonderful Caledon starter property for me and I hope it will be for the next resident as well! Click HERE if you would like to visit and see the property.
Please feel free to contact me inworld via IM or notecard if you are interested. Thank you!

Steelhead in the Primgraph Magazine

Steelhead was featured in The Primgraph magazine recently. It discusses Steelhead's history, architecture and there are interviews with Steelhead residents, such as myself (I'm the "modiste", how lovely!) There is also a piece about Steelhead's Girl Genius community as well. I think folks reading it will come away knowing what a special place it is.
You can read the issue by clicking the cover photo or clicking HERE.

Steelhead Port Harbor is Here
Upon my return to Laval Point from the holiday, I realized that Port Harbor had arrived in my absence and my view from the lighthouse was much changed...
I thought I would take a stroll over there as for me, one of the most exciting things is when a sim first opens. All is fresh and new with excitement and its residents are settling in...
Dear God, Lunar has truly outdone himself. I had been shown previews , but seeing it all come together is amazing...
To me, Steelhead is truly a beautiful set of sims...I am glad to call it home.

Still Not Too Late
It was announced tonight that there are still plots left in Steelhead Port Harbor, Steelhead's upcoming industrial steampunk sim. Not many left--as you can see, but you would definitely have a lot of fun living there! The new residents there consist of adventurers and heroes, mad scientists and those who are willing to see what happens when they all have to be neighbors! I think that it'll definitely be interesting there--to say the least. If you are interested in a lot there, please contact TotalLunar Eclipse inworld.
Tonight's town meeting was held in Miss Hilra's ruined monastery as Town Hall is still awaiting a lag fix from the powers that be. I still attend and like the concept of Steelhead's community being so well-informed as to the goings-on in our town...

Caledon is Burning

To me personally, it represents one's dreams going up in smoke. If that isn't worth flames, then I do not know what else is...

Oh Le Sigh LiLa, What Have You Done?

"Well, I'm not an openspace or void sim owner, why should I care?" you may ask. Let us think about it, shall we? Caledon, for example, consists of 20 void sims (the Duchies) and 23 full sims. The Guvnah would not be able to continue to charge his current price but for so much longer before having to soon pass the costs onto the void sim owners. If the owners are unable or unwilling to pay more, and someone else does not assume it, then the cost will pass back to the Guvnah. The very nature of the community that you enjoy could be changed dramatically. It is not just Caledon that would be affected...we are talking about Antiquity, New Babbage (Doctor Obolensky's lair is a void), the Wastelands and more. For smaller openspace sim owners, this increase could be even more devastating. Across the grid, there could be losses and perhaps a backfiring blow (yet again) to SL's economy.
Am I being the voice of doom? No. I personally believe that, as we have two months, reacting with knee-jerk reaction panic is not the solution. We might not like the policies foisted upon us sometimes, but we do like being inworld remember? As citizens, we can make our voices heard. If you would like to really know what else I truly think about the overall regarding this (such as my belief that openspace sims undermine LiLa's full sim sales), do peruse my other journal HERE.

A Lovely Walk Through Boomtown
Between the shop move and the festival and other things, I have been so very busy inworld that I am ashamed to admit that I just got around to really taking a walk through Steelhead Boomtown! I will certainly tell you one thing, that it is just gorgeous to me compared to my own part of town, Harborside. There is more of a cohesiveness of look and it struck me as simply being quite pretty. I have talked about its central meadow before, but I walked around in general today and visited places such as the Gearz Club with its amazing floor with flowing molten metal...
I had a look at the dam, which will soon have salmon ladders...
And crossed the bridge over the gorge with the dam in the distance. You should visit it as well and see how pretty it is for yourself!

Waiting for the New Duchy
After over a week of building like crazy, Kheph & I had finally wrapped up things with our Rezzable build. Gryffin got me to take a break and listen to traditional music with him atop the pretty church on Middlesea...
We then joined the Guvnah and a small group of folks expectantly waiting for the arrival of the newest sim on Penzance's Northern shore. But alas, it was not to happen just then as--much to the Guvnah's chagrin--inworld went borky. It did arrive however, and I would like to give my congratulations to Lord and Lady Primbroke, the new Duke and Duchess of Caledon Argyll.

Congrats to You Eds!
A group of us gathered to congratulate Edwina on Hoy, her new void sim in Otenth's Wyre region...
Along with Mr Jameson Despres of the Shapinsay sim on the other side, Wyre has expanded! Dia, Sir Zen, and later Mr Despres gathered for easy conversation and laughter on a hillside overlooking Wyre. I look forward to many get-togethers and much swooning!
