Skating in the Kokopelli

I genuinely enjoy ice skating. I find it calming as I glide around on the ice and sometimes do tricks and jumps. This year, the Steelhead ice rink is located at the Kokopelli Stage in Steelhead Capital City instead of in the Gardens as in years past. There is a free skate box and skate vendor there if you'd like to as well.

Sleighs and Other...Regency Things

I thought I'd try to get a bit of work done in the shop and heard the jingle of sleigh bells coming my way. I looked out and saw Miss Tombola testing her horse and sleigh, which will be available for tours of the Northern sims (Regency to Penzance, Eyre and a Tangle loop) quite soon. She told me that they are also tiny compatible!
I am a bit concerned about Mother Swan and her cygnets swimming in such icy water......but Mr Palisades' upside-down peacocks do concern me ever so slightly more...

Caledon-Winterfell Ball

Tonight was the Winterfell-Caledon Ball celebrating the joining of our two nations. I heard it had crashed the sim at its original Winterfell location, so it was relocated to Cape Wrath...My escort for the evening was Prof. Messmer and thanks to RL and computer problems I arrived at the end of the 8th dance. Look at all the lovely gray people!
At least I had finished making my dress and I was happy with it. We indeed made the most of it and I enjoyed dancing with him...
Afterwards I put on a warm coat and we went skating in our finery at Steelhead...

A Winter Evening Poem

A Winter Landscape
by Mathilde Blind (1893)

All night, all day, in dizzy, downward flight,
Fell the wild-whirling, vague, chaotic snow,
Till every landmark of the earth below,
Trees, moorlands, roads, and each familiar sight
Were blotted out by the bewildering white.
And winds, now shrieking loud, now whimpering low,
Seemed lamentations for the world-old woe
That death must swallow life, and darkness light.

But all at once the rack was blown away,
The snowstorm hushing ended in a sigh;
Then like a flame the crescent moon on high
Leaped forth among the planets; pure as they,
Earth vied in whiteness with the Milky Way:
Herself a star beneath the starry sky.

My day started off partying at Smuggler's Cove with the Connolly's Crazies and other well-wishers for Air Chief Sin "Biggles" Trenton's RezDay party...I was unfortunately unable to attend the First Four RezDay Ball due to my typist's RL holiday party commitments, but I took a chance to visit Primverness beforehand to see the preparations...
Victoria City is so beautiful in the wintertime...
I took a moment to visit Santa. I've been rather naughty, but I hope I won't get coal. You can read what I asked him for HERE...
Later on that evening I had a really good time hanging out in the Inkyboy Gallery with Gryffin and Dia. He's still in the process of hanging some pieces, but do stop through. You will not regret your visit as his artwork is beautiful!

Caledon Brigadoon Lands and A Christmas Carol

The Guvnah sent out a message that Brigadoon had landed and was a sandbox/ice rink. Of course I strapped on my skates and did jumps and tricks to my heart's content! How fun!Later that evening I went to the Radio Riel headquarters for a listening party of the first two chapters of one of my all-time favorite books, Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It seems Jagermeister Szondi loves it too as we were saying lines in unison ("No, your past."). I counted up to 4.5 "Humbugs" (Marley made Scrooge think twice about fully saying one!)
When it was over, Miss Nadir and I jigged as--inspired by the Fezziwig party--Duchess Gabi played "Roger de Coverley", the only song mentioned by name in a Dickens novel...
At the end, I joined Mr Offcourse and Dia in Port Caledon in his new workshop for a fun conversation as Mr Offcourse worked on his latest creation...

Winter Wonderlands

My neighbor Mr Sands has built a beautiful frozen pond across the street from my Regency home! Now I do not have far to go at all to skate!
I needed some tiny skates, so Lord took me to Raglan Shire, done up like a winter fantasy. I climbed to the top of the hill for a better view...
And rolled down it in an ice ball!
He then took me for a tour around the sim on the little train. I love the huge acorn building! I had a great time!

Skating Away!

A group of us--Dia, Eds, Lord, O'Toole, Mr Smashcan, and Mr Michael Dumont--gathered to skate at the rink in Carntaigh, going around and around and performing tricks. I love the chimneys on my steampunky skates...Roy took a break and sat along the sidelines with his shoulder Santa Cthulhu for a moment...
Dia and O'Toole going by...
I returned later that evening with the Professor and we had a lovely time gliding and talking...

A Hotspur Winter Moment...

Dia sent me a TP just saying, "You have to see this..." Upon my arrival at Polymath Upstairs, I could not help but notice the fun winter decor...and a snowman merrily skating. This special winter moment was brought to us by Hotspur O'Toole:Elle: I...can't stop staring at the little snowman going around us
Dia: me neither
Dia: hypnotic

Elle: He's so mesmerizing...

Dia: dreadfully so
Elle: I keep waiting for him to come back into view...

First Snow in Caledon and an Exhibit

I shall have to have my maid to go through my wardrobe trunks as I do believe my winter clothes are now needed. Upon coming downstairs today in Regency, I saw that Caledon had indeed had its first snow. Winter is upon us...I was standing almost knee high in it at Capt. Koba's as it fell from the sky...
Later, I spoke with Mr Enoch about the development of a new tiny air vehicle for me. Exciting!
I attended an exhibit of photographic cartes de visites ("calling cards") by Mr. Bram Elephas at the Gallery at Camazotz. Quite a lovely display from his family's RL collection of Victorian and Edwardian cards. Do visit Mr Elephas' exhibit, as I enjoyed it a lot.

First Snow in Babbage

I heard that it had snowed in Babbage last night, so I put on some warm clothes and went to see for myself...Even the squirrels had found a way to cope with it--Babbage-style, smokestack and all...
I thought I'd put on even warmer clothing as I found myself knee-deep in a snowdrift...
Enjoy its relatively pristine beauty now...
As soon it will be covered with the soot of Babbage's industry. Progress marches on...
