Of Debutantes and Town Meetings

Edwina invited me to join her at her home as Miss Emmaline McCarey had stopped by to chat and ask our counsel. The red-headed debutante giggled and blushed as we discussed the social season, suitors, and proper comportment for a young lady such as herself. Yes, I know, the two head Swooners giving advice, but we were once debutantes ourselves, and fainting over gents now and then certainly doesn't disqualify you as being considered a well-mannered proper lady...After she tripped away to a literary salon, Edwina and I tripped away to the Steelhead Town Meeting, where some of us arrived with a little more than others...
As always, there was a good turnout of the community, which was impressive given that SL was still misbehaving...
And in Steelhead, as Miss Lily Lewellen demonstrates, it doesn't matter how you show up for meetings...just that you have!

Listen to Your Elders

I would just like to say how much I do love the journal of Mrs. Dogsbody Fotherington!

I found her rather interesting upon our meeting at the opening of the social season as Caledon does not have very many (human) elders. Although I am very well-mannered when the occasion dictates it, I am sure that my conduct will probably meet with her utmost disapproval at times--as I can often be a bit irreverent--and I do expect the written equivalent of a withering glance at some point.

I do not even need to post anything more about it, as I enjoyed her unique (and often rather scathingly critical) viewpoint so much! Like Miss Jewell's journal, I do enjoy a different look at Caledon...even if it's not one that everyone else might enjoy too.
