I attended New Babbage's town meeting today. It is always interesting to see how another community ticks...
Mayor Tenk has announced that Babbage will be putting in for its 7th sim, to be named...well, "New Babbage". A map to stake one's claim is in City Hall.
[13:04] Hotspur Otoole: I (state your name)
You were expecting a Bible, were you?
Mayor Tenk then declared Mr Aeolus Cleanslate First Engineer and presented him with a ceremonial artifact of the city...
Afterwards, a group of us gathered at Ruby's for great coversation...
The current candidates who are campaigning rather hard in the Babbage Ning and inworld are Mr. Mosseveno Tenk, Baron Wulfenbach and Mr Aeolus Cleanslate. As I have been a merchant there for quite some time now in the Mermaid Arcade and really like Babbage in general, I have been following this and finding it rather fascinating. Given the recent U.S. elections (culminating in Inauguration Day today) the candidates views, the citizens concerns, and the feeling of a community's future being affected are all a bit engrossing in a way. I believe the actual decision will be made close to Valentine's Day with a candidate cutoff of early February. It should be interesting and good luck to the candidates.
I have always loved the steampunk community of New Babbage. Its industrial grit and soot and smokestacks have always truly appealed to me and it was one of the first places I enjoyed coming back to over and over again as a relatively new SL citizen. I remember when it still had one sim and I thought it so exciting and beautiful in its own way.
Mr Jimmy Branagh, one of Babbage's urchins, came to the Ball rather nattily attired I might say...
Afterwards, I needed to make a quick stop to the Library in Caledon Victoria City. I found an intriguing mushroom and took a nibble. I must have face-planted rather quickly, as I soon awoke to Phin's calling out "Medic!" You would think I would've learned my lesson from the last time...
Phin had other matters to attend to, so I continued on to the next stop in the Tour and went to Steeltopia, where we had a great time dancing among the rotating gears...
I wanted to see this marvelous bladed contraption up close...
We explored its empty halls and rooms...
And in another build, found this curious contraption...could it be from a future yet to happen?
After the contests were decided we all got on stage with the musicians to jig...
And I stopped by the Steelhead Saloon for a moment. You would think it was a SLunday for all of the rezzing issues I was having today...
Which rendered everyone present at Mr Hassanov's birthday party at Miss Zymurgy's in Regency a very lovely shade of putty grey...
I was preparing to go to the Tinies New Year's Ball in Raglan, but stopped through the Loft in Harborside first for a chat with Dia, Gryffin and Zoe...
This sign in the tavern is hilarious...
I hosted in a pinch for Dia at Jazzer's Paradise where we rocked out to metal...
And ended my evening sharing pints of Guinness and catching up with Prof. Messmer at Dr Fabre's Quarterdeck Reform Club in Port Babbage...
We had a fantastic time cracking jokes and dancing and talking for almost 2 hours! If you want fun, adventure and flying, the Air Force is definitely the group to be in!
Dia & I work very, very well as a team for formal balls, so I was more than happy to assist her as host as she DJed the Kintyre Court Presentation Ball. Eds came and joined us in our dancing...
I later had the pleasure of being shown the Vernian Sea lighthouse in Babbage by its owner and builder, Mr G. Hax's friend Miss Kandace Commons. Here we are in her machinery room. It is an amazing build! I think at some point his eyes glazed over as Miss Commons and I started talking alternately talking about building and dresses...
She is quite a talented builder and scripter!
Even the squirrels had found a way to cope with it--Babbage-style, smokestack and all...
I thought I'd put on even warmer clothing as I found myself knee-deep in a snowdrift...
Enjoy its relatively pristine beauty now...
As soon it will be covered with the soot of Babbage's industry. Progress marches on...
I love this time of year!
The house's creator pays tribute to the artist, famous for his B&W pen and ink illustrations, by making you feel as if you have stepped into one of his pieces...
It even has bats and his lovely wispy ghosts on the roof! Oh! The creature from The Doubtful Guest, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary of publication this year!
It was interesting seeing everything suspended in the air as Babbage itself undergoes a bit of preparation for a new look and new sim...
