The Few. The Proud. The Tiny.

The RCAF Screamin' Tinies were out in full force for a weekend of tiny dogfights over the Sound filled with thrills and spills!

(pictured: DrBob Margulies, Corn. Fanshaw, Zoe, Dia, Elle)

Dogfight #1 Saturday: Got taken down to 9 hit points before finding myself in a ditch somehow in Lionsgate...
Dogfight #2, Midnight SLT: The Crimson Koala (Lord Primbroke) appears. Here he is being pursued by Zoe...
Dogfight #3, Sunday: Miss Nika Dreamscape took some fun videos of the Squadron in action. Here we are defending HQ against sky pirate Alex Chadbourne...
Here is a poster I made with a fun motto I quipped while we were posing for it...
Afterwards, we all went to the Prop Spinner in SSC for their "Memory of Lara" event for RFL...
My tiny colleagues, as your Squadron Leader I salute you!

Busy Sunday!!

The dogfighting over the Sound wore me out...a swing was the solution...And afterwards, I headed to Tanglewood for Dame Lapin's birthday party! Wore my best pink dress and had cupcakes and a bunneh hat! Life is good!

Playing Catch-Up

I am constantly taking photographs to record my adventures while inworld, so I shall play a bit of catch-up as to my activities during the strike. First, I forgot to post this picture of Dia and me looking brave before dogfighting over the Sound last weekend. For those of you who have a tiny avatar and might enjoy flying, do contact me as it is quite enjoyable and stable even on bad laggy days...On the 15th, I joined the Duke of Murdann at his home in Murdann for a salon about freedom, what it means to us, and how we can overcome those obstacles that hold us back. We were joined by Miss Puchkina, Mr Epsilon and Mr Smashcan. Thank you Otenth, I had a lovely time...
This past weekend, the lag was atrocious so we pilots gathered at Dia's Loft pub in Steelhead instead for good conversation and drinks...

Announcing Tiny Dogfights: May 3 & 4

As posted by Air Commander Zoe Connolly:

Officers of the Royal Caledon Air Force are planning two days of aerial combat fun during the first weekend of May 2008.

All participants will meet at the Connolly Aerodrome in Caledon Penzance at 10:00 AM SL time on Saturday May 3rd or Sunday May 4th (or both days if you prefer) for what may be the biggest air battle ever fought by tiny avatars!

All you need is a tiny plane with the Terra Combat System (TCS) and a tiny avatar. A tiny dog avatar would be perfect, but if you have your heart set on another, we'll be glad to see you in another tiny incarnation.

Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a Caledon resident or pilot with the Royal Caledon Air Force. All we ask is that you join the RCAF group during the time of the event itself to facilitate communication in group chat during the events and use a tiny avatar and tiny plane during the dogfights. Tiny planes will be provided by RCAF Marshal Zoe Connolly. The Tiny Avatar you use is up to you. Once we start, air battles usually last 30 to 40 minutes.

Fair Skies!

Air Commander Connolly--Tiny Flyer!

RCAF Air Commander Zoe Connolly decided to be tiny fox tonight and go flying...I personally love how agile tiny planes are...
That is her flying above me, and she enjoyed it so much that she has announced an upcoming tiny dogfight--in tiny dog AVs in the weeks ahead...
We both "hoooo'd" as she landed the plane. Way too much fun!

About the RCAF Disbanding

I came inworld to find that Miss Connolly has disbanded the RCAF. I don't know if you all know how much we at the Aerodrome and Cape Messmer have been dealing with the comments regarding both. It is something that I have addressed before. My time in the RCAF has been wonderful and it has brought me much happiness to meet inventors and other aviators and the camaraderie among my fellow RCAF colleagues has been a lot of fun. I believed in and still believe in her dream. I don't write letters to the Guvnah, but this time I just felt compelled...

Dear Guvnah,

I'm sure you have heard all about the brouhaha surrounding the RCAF by now...

When Zoe had her dream of creating an airfield for everyone-- not just Caledonians--to share, I believed in her and her vision. So did you.

When she envisioned an air corps, I believed in that too. I had never really flown before, but she inspired me...and a little ferret was soon a squadron leader patrolling Caledon's skies.

When Mr Messmer created Cape Messmer, I believed in his dream too. I worked hard on the project, helping to create a place where folks could learn about the Victorian-era space stories and beliefs that influence us even today.

So the snide remarks, the comments, all of that...about theme or whatever else was hurtful. The RCAF was a group of very nice folks who not only enjoyed each other and what they did, but brought in others from outside of Caledon to share the dream. This is unfortunate and I hope she will reconsider. I don't even know what writing you and telling you would or will accomplish in any way, but I just thought you'd like to know as one of Caledon's dreamers' dreams became a nightmare...

Respectfully Yrs.,
Eladrienne Laval

**A note, 2/6: Zoe has reconsidered. Let's move on and past, shall we?

Aviatrix Skeeter

Sometimes, you just feel like taking to the air! I decided to create this flying outfit for myself (the goggles are not by me, but everything else is)...I decided to take the Cricket out for a spin...I got all the way around the Firth twice before being taken out in Murdann. My plane was recovered in Vic City. The next time I didn't do half badly either, but the third go, my aeroplane...well, took off from Penzance without me--and somehow ended up on Mr Drinkwater's land in the Highlands! Oh my! So sorry sir!
Once I recovered from my aviation mishap, I went to a flash rave at Carntaigh to debut Radio Riel's newest music presenter, Miss Jun Karoda...Here is Mr Hassanov wearing one of my new metal top hats...It just seemed right for him, no?

Attack at RCAF HQ

I got a call to arms from my RCAF colleagues and rushed over to RCAF HQ in Penzance, where Miss Bing ("Soapy") and AirChief Connolly ("Foxy") were standing anxiously with their .264 RCAF Ordinal carbines at the ready. Before I could barely arm myself, I found myself in Middlesea having been hit by one of Miss Molly Earnshaw's teddy bear bombs. She got me and Soapy. Where did it come from? We realized she had the high ground, picking us off from the mountain. I went to the back and up the mountain to give chase, only to have her take me down. Later, I was to get my revenge getting her at the base of the HQ. She's awfully accurate and I've heard quite a pilot at well. She gives those of us in the RCAF quite a time...On a quieter, less violent note, Lord showed me around the Nantucket sim, which is quite lovely with its boats and New England feel...

At the Aerodrome

I felt like flying and went to the Aerodrome to test out Mr D. Hax's tiny Boojum Bomber. I didn't get a chance......As I got caught up in conversations with the rest of the Crazies who were glad to see me back! In front of me is Biggles' tiny steampunky seaplane. All I could say was "Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!"

Dancing Sunday Away

My computer and SL were conspiring against me, but I finally made it inworld to attend Air Commander Foxy's (Miss Connolly) WWII/1940s Air Force-themed party for the SL Bloggers group. Some of the most well-known bloggers made their way to Mayfair to dance...I did a little work at the Cape (the MoonBox is safe to tp to now Miss Alva!) and joined Eds & Dia at Miss Bracken's in the Highlands for a formal now turned contemporary...

Saturday, December 8, 2007

My day started off partying at Smuggler's Cove with the Connolly's Crazies and other well-wishers for Air Chief Sin "Biggles" Trenton's RezDay party...I was unfortunately unable to attend the First Four RezDay Ball due to my typist's RL holiday party commitments, but I took a chance to visit Primverness beforehand to see the preparations...
Victoria City is so beautiful in the wintertime...
I took a moment to visit Santa. I've been rather naughty, but I hope I won't get coal. You can read what I asked him for HERE...
Later on that evening I had a really good time hanging out in the Inkyboy Gallery with Gryffin and Dia. He's still in the process of hanging some pieces, but do stop through. You will not regret your visit as his artwork is beautiful!

Celebrating and the Vernian Lighthouse in Babbage

My day in SL started off great! The pilots of the RCAF--"Connolly's Crazies"--got together at the Smuggler's Cove pub in Wellsian to celebrate my promotion to Squadron Leader of the "Screamin' Tinies"...We had a fantastic time cracking jokes and dancing and talking for almost 2 hours! If you want fun, adventure and flying, the Air Force is definitely the group to be in!
Dia & I work very, very well as a team for formal balls, so I was more than happy to assist her as host as she DJed the Kintyre Court Presentation Ball. Eds came and joined us in our dancing...
I later had the pleasure of being shown the Vernian Sea lighthouse in Babbage by its owner and builder, Mr G. Hax's friend Miss Kandace Commons. Here we are in her machinery room. It is an amazing build! I think at some point his eyes glazed over as Miss Commons and I started talking alternately talking about building and dresses...
She is quite a talented builder and scripter!

Skeeter's Flight Log: Connolly's Crazies

Some of Connolly's Crazies were gathered at the Aerodrome. Air Chief Biggles was playing a round of En Garde with Miss Pamus "Soapy" Bing as Pilot Officer CronoCloud "Maven" Creegan, Air Chief Phineas "Liftoff" Messmer and I watched. Biggles then went on to demonstrate Mr Denver hax's new bombs...I thought that I would try out my new Frederickson Airships wonderfully steampunky Flight Hawk. This was my longest flight to date! Once I got the controls down, I was in the air for over 15 minutes despite the rolling restarts that were literally taking out Caledon sims to the left and right of me. Quite harrowing, but the Hawk handled well. I do like this one! Now, I just need to learn how to land it...

Skeeter's Flight Log: The Caledon Triangle

There is a three -sim region in Caledon that has become known to us in the RCAF as the "Caledon Triangle". This includes the new sim of Morgaine, its sim crossing into Wellsian, and the waters of Murdann. If an intrepid pilot can escape its mysterious way of crashing one's air vehicle, then all the better for them...Alas, I--in my Terra Nieuport--was not so lucky...

Skeeter's Flight Log: Now THAT'S a Crash!

Last night I flew my Cubey Terra tiny-sized Cricket and went down in Middlesea's waters, my plane lost. This is the message I got telling me where it ended up:

Your object 'Eladrienne Laval's Terra Cricket 1.0' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by Mineralogical Society from parcel 'Cavorite Mines and Praeternatural Mineralogical Society' at Caledon Moors 58.9883, 253.743 due to parcel auto return.

Oh my!

Caledon Morgaine, Pipin' Hot!

Here I am in my plane flying over Morgaine, fresh out of the LL oven! I can not wait to see what this will look like once it is terraformed and the amazing levitating mountain is added! My only problem was that upon hitting the sim crossing, I lost my wonderful plane--which was unfortunately no copy(!!!!) This is a situation that most of us have encountered at some point whether on land, air or sea. I am a designer and merchant myself, so I understand protecting one's work, but please vehicle designers--no copy equals a problem when sim crossings and full parcels make vehicle travel so unpredictable! Mod/Copy or No Mod/Copy is fine as long as it is no transfer! Arrrrgh!!

Caledon Screamin' Tinies of the RCAF

Who knew I that am a MUCH better pilot as a tiny?!While talking to Air Marshal "Foxy" Connolly, we discussed the creation of a tiny air squadron for the Royal Caledon Air Force and I suggested a name for it (I seem to have a knack for that!)...
You're looking at Flight LT Elle "Skeeter" Laval of the Caledon Screamin' Tinies squadon!Don't let my pretty dress from earlier fool you...Air Chief Marshal "Biggles" Trenton remarked upon my propensity for mayhem and love of explosive things. Here I am standing next to my plane...
While we were all chatting, Mr Izaea Qinan stopped through to show us a creation to consider after he tweaks it to more steampunk standards. It was quite a nice vehicle. I wonder how it handles...

In the Skies Above Caledon

While chatting with Miss Connolly about my upcoming little storefront in Babbage, I was inspired to give flying an aircraft another go. Most of my efforts have been rather disastrous and usually involving water, but tonight, I felt brave and daring so I headed over to the Aerodrome, where Cap'n Trenton met me...My first attempt crash-landed in the waters at Murdann, but I thought I'd try again, lining up on the runway and getting settled in my Demoiselle...
Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
This time, I actually brought her in for a landing! "Not sideways, or upside-down, but even--on the wheels!" Cap'n Trenton said. Of course, we had to celebrate with a galvanic swordstick fight!
